Ensuring a fun and enjoyable experience playing the beautiful game

About Us

A Summer in NYC

Carlos Oliveira founded COSA as his way of sharing what he’s learned on the field. COSA originally began as a summer camp in Riverside Park, but since our founding in 1999 we’ve grown into a year-round program operating on the Upper West Side and Lower East Side of NYC. Every year we help train thousands of children at camps, clinics and private training sessions.

Playing the game

COSA’s training philosophy is rooted in proven fundamentals and professional training techniques that stress proper development for younger players. Our team of highly trained coaches come from the US, Brazil, Europe and Latin America, and we focus on helping young people during their most significant developmental stage, from ages 3 to 14. Our goal is to help them develop in the right direction, so that they can be positioned for long-term success and enjoyment in the beautiful game.

Carlos Oliveira

Like many children in Brazil, Carlos Oliveira fell in love with soccer when he was old enough to walk. Carlos followed his passion from neighborhood games to clubs and eventually was playing alongside superstars like Pele as a member of many professional teams, including Santos FC.

After a decade of playing professionally, Carlos was offered a full scholarship to play soccer for Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. As a seasoned player, Carlos understood what it takes to win, and he was able to bring that perspective to his college career as a student and as a mentor in the sport that he loved.

Following his graduation from Sacred Heart, Carlos moved to New York and quickly became aware that there was great room for improvement in the area’s youth soccer system. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Carlos founded COSA as his way of sharing what he’s learned. COSA has been operating in the upper west side of Manhattan for over 20 years and remains a pillar of the local soccer community as it has helped thousands of young people develop in the proper way to achieve success in high school, college, and even professional soccer. Carlos continues to oversee every part of COSA’s training operations, imparting everything that he’s learned from his experiences on the field and as a professional coach for teams in Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Bolivia, Finland, and all across Asia.
